The best site, property, or market can barely succeed without the right people and yet great people cannot off-set the market’s condition. These considerations drive hotel investment economics.
Hotel investments are cyclical in nature. We are in the midst for a solid market recovery that can plausibly continue over the next 3+ years. The strength of the recovery will be driven by the on-going recovery and “redefinition” of the U.S. economy. This recovery has recouped the loss of RevPAR seen in 2008 and 2009. Fewer opportunities exist in buying distress and new building begins to make better sense in the right markets.
